Samhain is a liminal or threshold festival, when the boundary between this world and the Otherworld thinned, meaning the Aos Sí (the ‘spirits’ or ‘fairies’) can more easily come into our world. Overtime, Samhain and Christian All Saints’/All Souls’ have influenced each other, and syncretised into the modern Halloween.
